My Fourth of July Weekend

A pretty good 4th of July weekend in Central Mass for me folks....

Friday night I checked out two new bars for me with a couple of amigoes... "The Real" Johnnie Mac and Tess who barkeeps down at The Hibo.....we hung out at Armsby Abbey on Main Street and ended the evening at Nick's on Millbury Street. In between I had a cocktail or two with BuckPaxton at the Abbey catching up on WooTown happenings.

Armsbey Abbey is the real deal and everything that has been stated about it is right on....great service, great food and a great selection of beer....the staff is pretty easy on the eyes also:>)

Saturday & Sunday were both pretty easy (lame for most:>)...went up to the Barre, MA on Saturday to check out the Barre Farmers Market and a nuevo antique store.....am looking for a new bed and kitchen set. Later on Saturday, Buddy the Beagle and I hiked a short trail along the Ware River and then we sat up at the Barre Falls Dam in Hubbardston, MA.....the DCR staff at Comet Pond in Hubbardston, MA wouldn't let Buddy the Beagle in but directed us to the Dam.

It's incredible that a dog can not be at Comet Pond because of it's proximity to the Quabbin Watershed but all those wee kiddies peeing in the Pond are:>)

Saturday night and Sunday were spent around the house getting ready for next weeks festival...a little BBQ, some painting, some gardening.....not one reason to call the police:>)

The Village of Piedmont had it's share of fireworks & BBQ's this weekend but it all seemed to be relatively calm, organized and most were respectful of each others space......this is a far cry from past 4th of July weekends in The Village of Piedmont.

The Lads from Rodney Street may want to hang out with the Lads from The Village of Piedmont for awhile....we'll show em' how change can take place without a total reliance on the Pols and then they can make up a youtube clip about all the good shite happening instead of shite:>)

Next weekend The Village of Piedmont lights up.....

I got to experience the burn-outs from the Summer Nationals this Friday while @ the Armsbey Abbey....it was a lot smaller crowd than I expected or had heard attended...I saw no economic run-off at the Armsbey Abbey...at most a few coming in to use the toilets.

If anything this hurt business at the Abbey as the place was half full and I was told that normally it would have been packed..

Hopefully things changed on Saturday & Sunday...

I have a few events that bring 200-500K each event into communities where my events are held and possibly higher but I rarely if ever use this as a bargaining point when applying for permits....if an event promoter is going to use dollar figures to secure permits that will lose money form others they had better produce in my own humble opinion:>)

The crowd I witnessed on Friday in no way contributed to a possible $20 million dollar spin-off for city business.

I'm sure Rodney Street was relatively calm as well, but usually the hubbub doesn't get underway until the big fireworks at East Park go down.

Everyone on Rodney is respectful of each others space, and no two pimps or crack dealers will ever share a corner. I guess in that way it is still a little different from Piedmont :>}

"RBA" in your latest assault on me on your blog..you failed to mention that I paid for that tree and have maintained it for the past two years...if the little brat next door needs exercise then papa and mama should take em' down to Beavah Brook..they certainly have plenty of time on their hands:>)

Hope you and la famiglia had a great weekend....sorry you take offense to me using the Italian word for family in mi posts...

I'm not offended at all. I think you are a phenomenal leader in our community for all that you do - from renting apartments, to planting trees, to breaking up drug deals. Truly a phenomenal leader of the highest esteem. I see Piedmont Street and I am just overwhelmed with what a beautiful place it has become since you rode in to town and saved it.

Here's to you Paul! Muchas bendiciones!

far from a leader "RBA"...just one of the foot soldiers...I was telling Wormy today that you should be happy with all the traffic you have been geting to yer blog..I'll bet it is more than you get for that 2nd rate art and two bit poetry that you say you'll starve for:>)

If you get to hungry stop by mext Saturday in The Village of Piedmont..we have a good ole fashion crawfish boil happenin' and I'm sure we'll have extra for a starving artist/poet:>)

I do appreciate the attention from you two for sure. No thanks on the invite though, Piedmont St is too slummy for my tastes. It's full of prostitutes, drug dealers and gangs still. Get at me once you get it all nice and gentrified there footsoldier

Got to get back to "Deadliest Catch"....we will put aside some crawfish next week in case you change your mind "RBA"
