Newport Cliff Walk.......a good walk not a hike!

The Newport, Rhode Island Cliff Walk is a great take....more of a walk along the shore of Newport than a hike but a great walk that can include walking on the beach, over rocks and tours of some of the mansions that dot the walk.....the best plan is to park at Easton Beach on Memorial Boulevard where the parking is free from November 1 to the end of April and then you can walk the path 3.5 miles to the Bellevue Avenue exit.

Once you reach Arthur's mansion with the sheets for curtains...you walk over an unmarked rock path towards and past a few "regular Joe" homes - one with a George Forman grille in the yard to Bellevue Avenue...from Bellevue Avenue you can decide to walk back to Easton Beach or you can walk a nice tree lined Bellevue Avenue to downtown Newport in about 15-20 minutes-take a left at the first traffic light and walk down the hill:>)

Downtown Newport is nice if you like to take in art galleries, shop, eat and drink.....I am starting to get into the art stuff and and I have been a huge fan of eating and drinking since I popped out of mi madre's womb! A seafood dinner with Red Parrot Pale Ale at the Red Parrot Bar & Restaurant and then a few pints of Guinness at the ole Aidan's Irish Pub now called Fastnet Irish Pub......Fastnet is as authentic as they come folks - the pints of Guiness leading the way!

From downtown Newport it is a sawbuck taxi ride back to Easton Beach for the car.....great way to spend a day.
